FRIDAY: FROM MIDDLE EARTH TO MARS: HOW MAPS BRING MEANING TO OUR WORLDS

Stop by Room 207 to and join Dr. Christine Swanson, a landscape ecologist and science analyst at the NSF’s Division for Undergraduate Education, as she talks to a panel of space geologists, oceanographers, forest ecologists, artists, and other map aficionados about how maps have informed their understanding of science, literary worlds, the past, and even the future.

Step into Middle-earth for an unforgettable reunion with The Lord of the Rings stars John Rhys-Davies (Gimli), Orlando Bloom (Legolas), and Liv Tyler (Arwen). The task of bringing J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary world to life was an adventure in itself, so let’s hear from the cast about their favorite moments on this journey! The Main Stage is located on Level 3, in the Ballroom.
